We will kick off the event with a welcome from Dr. Mindy Nagle.

Finding Motivation, Martina Navratilova

Tennis legend Martina Navratilova will share her philosophy on and experiences with staying motivated throughout a wide range of life experiences. Though Martina is best known for her tennis prowess, her life experiences expand far wider than Grand Slam titles. She is a breast cancer survivor, author, coach and a passionate advocate for women's issues, gay rights, ethical treatment of animals, environmental protection, and AIDS research.

Preventative Healthcare for Women, Dr. Natasha Knight

Dr. Knight will discuss disease prevention for both women's-specific issues as well as common, population-wide diagnoses. Topics include best practices for screening at all stages of life. This will include the latest recommendations about when adolescent women should initially do a first gynecological visit as well as recommendations for by-decade screening and lab work. Other topics will include lifestyle interventions that help women to prevent disease and factors associated with longevity in women.

The Future of Healthcare, Elaine Gerson, JD, MBA

Elaine Gerson will discuss the state of our current health care system and anticipated future changes that will promote population health. She will describe models such as accountable care organizations and the research that has been done in the past decade to prove the efficacy of such models. Elaine will also speak about innovative strategies that smaller communities such as mountain towns are implementing to improve population care. Additional topics include prevention of chronic disease in health care models, reimbursement and the evolving doctor patient relationship.

Breast Cancer Treatment and High Risk Screening, Dr. Betsy Brew

Dr. Brew will discuss different types of breast cancer as well as the latest in diagnostics and treatment. She will delve into treatment options including both surgical and medical interventions. Dr. Brew will also share the latest scientific evidence on breast disease, prevention strategies and risk assessment tools for various types of breast cancer.

The Physiology of Hormones, Dr. Mindy Nagle

Dr. Nagle will discuss what is happening with hormones during different stages of life including the first 40 years of life, peri-menopause and menopause. Relevant topics include hormonal changes and their effects on fertility, diagnosing peri-menopause as well as what to expect post-menopause. With regards to menopause, Dr. Nagle will discuss options available for managing side-effects as well as the latest evidence on Hormone Replacement Therapy.

Orthopedic Considerations for Female Athletes, Dr. Thea Wotjkowski

Ever wonder about how anatomical differences between men and women affect their physical activity? Dr. Thea Wojtkowski will discuss how differences in female anatomy and physiology translate into athletics, injury and injury prevention. She will also discuss Relative Energy Deficiency Syndrome or RED-S (formerly called the Female Athlete Triad), its short-term and long-term effects as well as prevention and treatment.

Nutrition for Active Women & Athletes, Katie Elliott, MS, RD, CSSD

Katie Elliott will discuss dietary patterns that are associated with longevity, while addressing popular fad diets. She will also speak to adjustments that active women and athletes should make to fuel activities. Topics include when to eat to get the most our of your workouts (pre-, during- and recovery nutrition), the differences in sports nutrition needs for men and women as well as supplements. Elliott will also discuss hydration, effects of subclinical low energy availability and how to optimize body composition for performance.

Active Women, the Menstrual Cycle and Beyond: How to Work with Your Physiology, Dr. Leah Roberts

Dr. Roberts will discuss the menstrual cycle and how women can work with their unique physiology to optimize enjoyment of and performance in activity/sport. Dr. Roberts will cover topics such as PMS, tactics to manage physiological perturbations during the phases of the menstrual cycle, what to expect during menopause as well as managing training during peri-menopause and menopause.

KEYNOTE

Christine D'Ercole will discuss how words create our stories about ourselves and our capabilities. Oftentimes, we listen to the words in our heads on autopilot. A sentence may start with "I am," and end with something awful. This keynote session will focus on recognizing our inner dialogue, identifying the words that harm us and reframing stories to be in line with what we are truly capable of accomplishing.
